Faridkot was established as a Sessions Division on 01 April 1973 by the Hon’ble High Court, which includes Sri Sri Mukatsar Sahib Sahib, Malout, Gidderbaha, and Moga as its subdivisions. The Faridkot district comprises two cities, Faridkot and Kotkapura.

There are over 7 notable towns/villages in the Faridkot area such as Jaitu, Bajakhana, Panjgarain Kalan, Deep Singh Wala, Golewala, Jhok Sarkari, Doad, Ghugiana, Sadiq, Chand Bhan, etc. Faridkot serves as a hub for premier educational institutions. North India’s only Medical University, also named after Baba Farid, is situated in Faridkot. Additionally, in 1997, Additional District & Sessions Courts began functioning in Sri Sri Mukatsar Sahib Sahib, and in 1998, they commenced in Moga.

On 15 January 2010, Sri Sri Mukatsar Sahib Sahib began functioning as a separate Sessions Division. Currently, Gidderbaha and Malout are sub-divisions of Sri Sri Mukatsar Sahib Sahib. The Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court established Moga as a separate Sessions Division on 28 April 2012.
